Welcome to Steel Poppy

Steel Poppy Arabians is a life's ambition to live on the land and raise riding and pleasure horses. Arabians are my choice as a partner to enjoy a number of disciplines. They are versatile and athletic, loving and people oriented. They enjoy working with you and are forever willing if respect is shown and received. Arabians are tough and strong like steel but are also beautiful and elegant like a poppy.

This web site is continually developing. I would welcome comments and advice on what you would like to see..these are early days and many things are not yet up....please keep checking

March 2010

March was spent training horses for the Easter Carnival FAW ride in the first weekend in April and entertaining. It never rains but it pours. My sister Sally and her husband are off to the NT and will be away for the rest of the year exploring. My strapper has gone !! They stayed for a few nights on their way out which coincided with great friends and expert trimmers Robert Howden and his partner Carol Layton. Then followed my great friend and writer Mary Morris from London and my cousin from Darwin. Luckily most of them rode and I was able to show them my back garden, the beautiful Lake Manchester.

Much time was also spent writing an article for the Australian Endurance News due out in April. Keep a look out in the newsagencies!

The famous, (because she is related to Eumerella Rob Roy) Southern Cross Midnight Magic, (Triple A Midnite/Arabian Lodge Farah) has put a stunning chestnut colt on the ground. His father, Mandala Mozart (Scimitar Zardan/Divinity) means he will carry the lines of Gaspar, Gisela, Zadaran, Silver Moonlight and Witezan.

Two more horses here being educated. One, a great big girl, Kirri, is half Percheron and half Thoroughbred. Her owner is going to trail ride her for the next couple of years as she is only 3 and then do dressage and hopeful some eventing on her. What a different experience it is training her from an Arab. The other is a beautiful mare, now retired from showing. Anna (pictured above) is 12 years old and is taking to training like a professional. She will be being ridden in no time. Bred down from a Bremervale stud mare. Hopefully her owner too will take to endurance.
